„Gdy byłem chłopcem i mieszkałem w Polsce, uwielbiałem czytać romantyczne historie o angielskich prostytutkach. Wiedziałem, że różnią się one od naszych. Nas uczono o Rosji i o tym, jak Piotr Wielki spotkał prostytutkę i uczynił ją cesarzową. Komuniści twierdzili, że świadczy to o pospolitości wielkiego cara, a ja myślałem tylko o tym, że prostytutka straciła wolność, stając się częścią opresyjnej i odrażającej elity” – tłumaczył Arkadius. Projektant nawiązał do postaci Marty Skowrońskiej, być może Polki, późniejszej carycy Katarzyny I, która być może poznała przyszłego męża, pracując seksualnie. Domniemania rozpalają wyobraźnię.
„Rankiem 28 stycznia 1725 roku Piotr Wielki zmarł w pałacu Zimowym i Katarzyna Skowrońska została samodzielną cesarzową Wszechrosji, rozpoczynając siedemdziesięcioletni okres rządów kobiecych” – pisał Jonathan Miles w książce „Petersburg”. Katarzyna była ponoć roztańczona, nie żałowała poddanym wódki, a sobie sukien i splendoru. Podobno na jej przyjęciach zdarzały się śmierci z przepicia. Założyła też Kunstkamerę i Akademię Nauk.

„Moją heroiną była też Angielka Nell Gwyn, kochanka króla Karola II. Pozostałe jego kochanki były arystokratkami, ale ojciec Nell sprzedawał owoce, a matka tak się upiła, że wpadła do Tamizy i utonęła. Kiedy Nell była kochanką króla, a na ulicy doszło do zamieszek, to rozbiła szybę w swoim powozie i próbując uspokoić tłum krzyknęła: Jestem protestancką dziwką! Wszyscy ją kochali. Nell była aktorką. Łączyła sztukę i ludzi” – opowiadał projektant, nawiązując do zdarzenia z 1681 r. Wściekły tłum otoczył wówczas powóz Nell w przekonaniu, że atakuje katolicką księżnę.

Słowo „prostytucja” może być dziś uznane za obraźliwe. Powinniśmy używać określenia „praca seksualna”. Kolekcja powstała jednak w czasach, w których poprawność ta jeszcze nie obowiązywała. Liczymy zatem na zrozumienie tych osób, które mogą poczuć się urażone.
Arkadius ujawnił również ten negatywny wydźwięk słowa „prostytucja”. Twierdził, że projektanci, którzy tworzą komercyjne ubrania, spotykają się z zarzutem: „prostytuowania się, sprzedawania się supermarketom”.

“As a boy in Poland, I loved reading about the romantic English sex workers of the past, and I knew that they were different from ours. We were taught about Russia and how Peter the Great met a sex worker and made her Empress. The communists argued that this showed the common touch of the great Czar, but I only thought of how the prostitute lost her freedom and became part of an oppressive and hideous elite,” explained Arkadius. The designer was referring to the figure of Marta Skowrońska, believed by some to have been Polish, who later became Empress Catherine I, having allegedly met her future husband through sex work. The rumours make the imagination run wild.
"On the morning of 28 January 1725, Peter the Great died in the Winter Palace and Catherine Skowrońska became Empress of Russia in her own right, beginning a seventy-year period of female rule," wrote Jonathan Miles in his book St Petersburg. Catherine was said to be a passionate dancer, never begrudging her subjects vodka and herself dresses and glamour. Deaths from alcohol poisoning were not unheard of at her parties. She also founded the Kunstkammer and the Academy of Sciences.”

“My heroine was the Englishwoman Nell Gwyn, mistress of King Charles II. His other mistresses were aristocrats, but Nell’s father sold fruit and her mother got so drunk that she fell into the Thames and drowned. But when Nell was the King’s mistress and a mob was rioting, she had only to pull down the window of her coach and shout ‘Good people, you are mistaken; I am the Protestant whore!’ Everyone loved her. Nell was an actress, and she brought art and the people together,” said the designer making reference to an incident in 1681 when an angry mob surrounded Nell's carriage in the belief that it was attacking a Catholic duchess.

The word “prostitution” can be considered offensive today, with “sex work” being the preferred term. However, the collection was created at a time when political correctness in this area was not widely observed. We therefore count on the understanding of those who may feel offended.
Arkadius himself touched on the negative overtones of the word “prostitution.” He claimed that designers who create commercial clothing face accusations of: "prostituting themselves, selling themselves to supermarkets."

The prints were composed of reproductions of small, paper advertisements for sexual services and phone sex lines before the days of dating apps.
